Meet Maria, the founder of Shangies
Hi, my name is Maria Stilov
In 2016, I launched Shangies by Stilov with a single goal in mind: to create high-quality, comfortable sandals that combine style, versatility, and affordability. What started as an idea and passion quickly grew into a thriving brand, and today Shangies is proudly sold by over 350 retailers across the globe.
The idea for Shangies came during my six years living and working in Shanghai. Surrounded by the vibrant culture, I was inspired to design a jute sandal with a clean, Nordic aesthetic. The result? A lightweight, durable, and stylish sandal available in a wide range of stunning colours.
A Journey Built on Support and Gratitude
When I’m not running Shangies, I am a mom to my two wonderful boys, Herman and Carl. We live in Østerbro, Copenhagen, and whenever we can, we love spending time at our cozy allotment on Amager.
Life as an entrepreneur is demanding, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Seeing a dream turn into reality and becoming part of so many people’s everyday lives makes it all worth it.
